Beautiful Disneyland Fantasyland Pirate Ship Replica to be released January 29

Disneyland will release on January 29 a new great collectible item, a replica of the legendary - and unfortunately extinct since a long time - Fantasyland Pirate Ship! And, as it is Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily - the two great artists who always design more than perfect collectibles - no need to say that this Fantasyland Pirate Ship will be beautiful.

For those of you who were too young to know the Fantasyland Pirate Ship and his "Chicken of the Sea" Restaurant here is a picture of it found on the excellent Disneyland postcards.com web site.

The replica will be in Metal and Resin on Wood Base, the dimensions of the item are 14" long x 12-1/2" tall x 5-3/4" wide and of course it's a limited edition of 500 with a retail price of $250. Here is some closer shots to see more details and the presentation text:

"A Pirate Ship with a front door? This isn't your normal pirate ship! For over 25 years, Captain Hook's galleon was one of the most imaginative restaurants in Disneyland. Guests entered its hold over a gangway and (after ordering lunch!) could explore the three-masted vessel from stem to stern. The Fantasyland Pirate Ship was one of Disneyland's finest creations, from the cannons lining the forecastle, to the intricate mermaid figurehead on the bow.

Studying the drafting's and hundreds of photographs, Kevin & Jody bring you a scale replica with all the color and wonderful details of the original. The ship's wheel stands ready on the poop-deck, and the boat's anchor hangs from a length of metal chain.

The galleon rests on a special wooden display base with a classic "Disneyland" brass plaque. Included is a separate special bonus: a replica of the restaurant's original sign - only 2-1/2" tall!"

This collectible item might also interest Disneyland Paris fans as, although the Pirate Ship is no longer at Disneyland, we do have the same one at DLP's Adventureland!

Online sales began January 11 and those of you interested might go at this link HERE and to place your order you have to go HERE.

Now, as this is an article about collectibles i'd like to let you know - and especially fans of SHAG artwork - that on Monday January 31st SHAG will be at WDW Magic Kingdom Main Street Gallery to sign his new Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary artwork. "Showcasing the original icons of the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Resort, and Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground - SHAG has captured the essence of fun and wonder that has comprised this magical kingdom since it opened its gates on October 1, 1971".

Deluxe Print dimensions are 16x20 inches, complete with double mat and the retail price is $35. This event will be the first time the Walt Disney World Resort has hosted the Artist SHAG and you'll be able to meet and greet the artist at this premier artist signing. At the conclusion of this event the original artwork will go back into the vaults not to be released until the full SHAG Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary collection is unveiled in the Summer of this year.

Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary - All about the Sept 9 Collectibles Event

It's the Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary and Disneyland will have a special collectibles event on 09-09-09!

LOT of artists are designing great Haunted Mansion collectibles for this event, and here below is a selection of them. The bad news is that all Disney packages which allows to be part of this HM collectible event on September 9 are now totally sold out... If you - like me - won't be able to attend the event and buy some of these collectibles, don't worry, you will be able to order them directly to Disneyland mail order service...or should be able to find them on EBay!

So, let's have a look to these awaited collectibles and let's begin by the two collectible designers genius Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily who are designing many different collectibles for this HM 40th anniversary. For now, two only have been shown. First this great Haunted Mansion Coffin - Edition Size: 500 - $75. Actually, the coffin will have a mechanism and the top of it with the skeleton arms will go up and down! In the same time, the green light in the coffin will switch on and off.

...and this also great 12" high Candelabra - Edition Size: 500 - $85.

Designed by Walt Disney Imagineer, John Mauvezin, this 24" high Haunted Mansion Door - only ONE available and at $5800! But it's going to be an amazing item, read details about it below.

This impressive piece stands two feet tall and was built from scratch by Walt Disney Imagineer John Mauvezin, from original WED blueprints. The wonderful attention to detail leaves nothing to the imagination. From the snake door handle to the carved skulls guarding the entrance, this free standing door has a hidden surprise.

Turning the door knob activates the ticking of the hallway clock along with its haunting chime. If you look through the keyhole you can see the clocks swinging pendulum and backwards spinning hands, while the ghostly shadow of a boney claw passes slowly by. this amazing illusion is accomplished through hidden mirrors and the magic of Disney. Keeping to true WED tradition , this is not a video playback, but an all mechanical effect. The clock itself is only 2" tall and is mounted deep inside the lower casework.

Due to the complexity of the inner merchandise, the artist recommends short runs and limited cycles. Made from plexiglas, styrene, wood and plaster. Hand painted.

Always from John, this 20" high Haunted Mansion Tabletop Clock which will work for real! - Edition Size: 40 - $250.

Sculpted by Dusty Horner, for Walt Disney Classics Collection this "Organ: Spirited Entertainer" will have an edition size of 500 - $225.

Artist Jim Shore is creating in his Disney Traditions series these "Hitchhiking Ghosts". It's an "open" edition - which mean it's not limited and the price will be $75.

Next, this "Haunted Mansion Serpant Door Handle Walking Stick" Inspired by the serpant door handle as it appears in the hallway scene in the attraction. - Edition Size: 50 - $295.

Then, these 9" high Haunted Mansion Griffin Bookends sculpted by Walt Disney Imagineer, Jim Crouch and Inspired by the griffin statues as they appear in the Haunted Mansion. Edition Size: 150 - $95.

A great idea for all chess players, although a bit expensive, this Haunted Mansion Painted Chess Set designed by Walt Disney Imagineer, Scott Goddard. Edition Size: 40 - $2000.

Pieces include the following:
Pawns - Tombstones
Rooks - Mausoleums
Knights - Singing Busts
Bishops - Opera Singers
Queen - Raven
King - Graveyard Caretaker

From the "Gallery of Light" collection of the great miniaturist Robert Olszewski these "Hitchhiking Ghosts" are an open edition and will cost $85.

Always by Robert Olszewski a Haunted Mansion Plaque Pokitpal. Open edition - $20.

Also, a beautiful Pocketwatch in Haunted Mansion Door Box. Inspired by the hallway scene, the door opens to reveal the wallpaper in the background and a pocketwatch which is reminiscent of the face of the ticking clock. Edition Size: 300 - $150.

Inspired by the famous opening scene, these Framed Glass Stretching Portraits. Edition Size: 500 - $95.

The Pins fans will specially like this series of lenticular pins of the "Attic Bride with Groom". Here are two of them (Before Beheading, After Beheading) - Edition Size: 999 - $14.95.

Also, this Black Widow Jumbo Slider Pin. Pull the black widow spider down and watch the grooms heads in the portraits disapper and Haunted Mansion 1969 - 2009 appear on a web! Edition Size: 999 - $13.95.

And one more item for the road, which is the least i can say as it is these "Haunted Mansion Wallpaper High Top Sneakers" - Edition Limited to Special Orders Only - $75.

The collectibles above are my personal choice - so, it's a totally subjective choice! There is many more items to discover on this special Disney HM 40th anniversary page.

So, what do you think of these Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary collectibles? Thanks to leave a comment or discuss this article on D&M english forum on Mice Chat

The New DCA Pixar Play Parade and a Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily tribute

In this article, i will give a special tribute to Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily, and to the brand new DCA Pixar Play Parade.

What? You don't know Kevin and Jody? I don't believe it! Kevin and Jody are two fantastic sculptors and one thing is sure: you DO know all the fantastic collectibles they've created two years ago for Disneyland 50th anniversary, all these fantastic Disneyland replicas.

Like this great sculpture of the Pirates of Caribbean auctioneer

Or the beautiful Monorail replica

And also this great Rocket to the moon lamp

Not to mention the fantastic Mark Twain replica, actually on sale on Disney Outlet web site.

And, by the way, you can have a look at all the fantastic collectibles they've created on their special Flickr page HERE

Now, what is the link between the new DCA Pixar Play Parade which had its first soft opening two days ago and Kevin and Jody? Well, you see, Jody Daily is actually the Art Director for the the new Pixar Play Parade opening officially at DCA on March 14. All the floats, puppets, AA figures and some of the costumes are his design - But not the music, coming from the same people who wrote High School Musical.

Kevin sent me some of Jody's great artwork for this new parade and here they are!

You can see plenty of great pictures of the parade soft opening on miceage HERE

But you can also watch the video of the whole parade right here below, thanks to "TwilightZoneAnaheim" who did a great job and posted them on youtube!

Now, let's come back to Kevin Kidney. Not only Kevin is always creating new wonders for Disney, but he now have is own blog, the Kevin Kidney blog at miehana.blogspot.com , and it's a great one!

You can discover on Kevin's blog rare artwork, like this one in relation with the Kaiser "Aluminum Hall of Fame" a "lost" Disneyland's extinct exhibits...

Or these also rare pictures of the floats of the "Hercule Victory Parade" that began its short run at Disneyland in June 1997. Kevin collaborated with artist Vladimir Petrov in sculpting and constructing the float models.

You see, these kind of very rare documents that you don't find anywhere else, even on Disney and more!

So, as they fully deserves it, have a look to Kevin and Jody wonderful work, whether it's on Kevin blog, on their Flickr page or at DCA new parade!
