Tired to wait for Star Tours 2 opening ? There is an App for that !

Tired to wait for the Star Tours 2 opening? Then download on your IPhone the new Star Wars App game called Star Wars Arcade Falcon Gunner which will transform YOUR environment in an epic battleground against the forces of the Empire.

In this new game developed by Vertigore Games you're the Millenium Falcon gunner desperately trying to shoot the TIE fighters. BUT - and this is the great idea - the app will use the camera of your IPhone to introduce augmented reality in the game. In two words: the background image of the game is what your IPhone camera see. The augmented reality takes your surroundings and sticks them outside your Millenium Falcon. Whether it's the New York skyline or a parking lot, you'll be able to blast TIE Fighters out of the sky as if they were invading right now, in our galaxy. The game also features other great moments from the Star Wars universe like the escape from the Death Star, the Battle of Hoth and you even have the option of switching between rendered backgrounds and augmented reality scenery from your device's camera.

Have a look at the test video below and here is the ITunes link for those of you interested to download the app!

DHS Last Tour to Endor Event : Raiders of the Lost Jedi Temple of Doom Show

Kevin Yee did a brilliant article today on Mice Age, and part of it is a report of the Star Tours - Last Tour to Endor event at the Disney's Hollywood studios last week. During this celebration they did a special version of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular show with Storm Troopers instead of Nazis soldiers! Darth Vador, Princess Leia, Darth Maul and many others Star Wars characters were also part of this surrealistic show where two universe are mixed together.

Attractions Magazine did - as usual - a very good video of the whole show. Choose to watch it in the best Youtube definition and in full screen mode, i'm sure you will enjoy it. And once you've watched the show jump on Attractions Magazine Youtube page where they have many more videos of this Star Tours event!

Disneyland Paris Star Tours

Star Tours at Disneyland Anaheim will soon shut its doors. WDI Imagineers will begin to install the new and highly awaited Star Tours 2 scheduled to open in 2011. Will ST2 come to Disneyland Paris? Probably, if not very probably, in 2012 or 2013. So, let's have a special tribute to the current version while guests can still ride it at Discoveryland.

The picture on the top is a Star Tours entrance concept by Eric Robison, never realised. We know that a big X Wing fighter stands at the entrance, but did you know that Imagineers once envisioned to have instead a big AT & AT snow walker?

Or even a Millenium Falcon as you can see on this painting by Tim Delaney who did also the one above. Was it Space Mountain behind, with a Death Star design?

These two rare pictures show the making at a WDI facility of the X Wing fighter, standing now at the entrance of the attraction.

This next painting by Tim Delaney is famous, but you'll find it here in a very good quality.

Talking about pre-show, here is a great picture of C3PO...

...and of Admiral Ackbar...

..and of the little robots located in the Droids room.

Two others elements of the decor, including the Starspeeder 3000 plan.

The next picture is a high-res version of a well known image showing the Starspeeder in the final battle of the ride movie.

Let's end with a big gift with, below, this high-res pic of the Starspeeder Service poster. What will be the next Star Tours destinations? Answer in 2011 at Disneyland and WDW and hopefully at DLP the next year or 2013!

Thanks to leave a comment or discuss this article on D&M english forum on Mice Chat

Tokyo Disneyland special report - Part Two : Tomorrowland

Here is the part two of Randie Soul pictorial report of Tokyo Disneyland. This time we will have a look to TDL Tomorrowland, and more precisely Star Tours and Space Mountain. All pictures are in hyper high-res and almost all of them would make great wallpaper for your computer. As always, double-click on each to enjoy them in big size!

Here is the entrance of the land...

...With Space Mountain in the background.

Around the Star Tours entrance...

TDL Star Tours pre-show is probably the biggest of all.

What is great at TDL is the park's maintenance. The attraction looks as new as it was on opening day.

And what a great lighting!

The hall when you exit the Star Speeders.

There is a great view on other Tomorrowland attractions when you exit Star Tours. Like here with the Monsters Inc ride and Go Seek building...

Or this one with the Rocket Jets and, behind in the background Tokyo Disney Sea Tower of Terror and Mysterious Island!

Here is Space Mountain at dusk, let's go have a look at it!

Some great shots of the new boarding room decor...

...and of the spectacular lighting which constantly change of colour.

All photos: copyright Randie Soul, that I thanks a lot!

Star Tours behind the scenes - Video

Here is a Star Tours topic, today. First, did you ever wanted to know how it looks like outside of the Starspeeder simulator while you are comfortably sitting inside?

This youtube video filmed at Disneyland Paris Star Tours attraction will give you a rare glimpse of the Star Speeder moving, view from outside.

Those of you who were at Disneyland's Star Tours opening still remember the excitement of that special day. And those who were not - like me - will be pleased to discover the great opening ceremony on these two videos below.

As it is often the case Tokyo Disneyland have an improved version of the attraction. The ride is still the same, but there is a post-show audio-animatronic that i will be pleased to have in Paris version. To avoid you a flight to Tokyo to see it, here is a video of that scene.
