Universal Studios Singapore Special Effects Show " Lights, Camera, Action "

Among the new shows unique to Universal Studios Singapore is a brand new special effects show called "Lights, Camera, Action" hosted by Steven Spielberg himself. After the Spielberg pre-show guests enter what seems to be a boat shed and all the SFX show will take place during a major hurricane in New York bay.

As you will see on this video from the Sentosa theme park blog water, fire and destructions effects are part of the show, and much more until the final surprise - don't miss the end! According to a report by the Theme Park Guy web site "the effects appear a bit orchestrated and slow-motion, but (he) was told that the ride is still getting tweaked". It's usual for this kind of show to improve the effects after the opening, and probably it will be the case here.

And after you've watched the video jump to the Sentosa theme park blog where you can see many others good videos of Universal Studios Singapore. As here on Disney and more we will probably not talk a lot more about USS until the opening of the Transformers ride in 2011 the Sentosa theme park blog will be for you a good site to have fresh news from the park. Make sure to bookmark it! The Theme Park Guy web site also have a nice pictorial report on Universal Singapore.

Return of the Man with the Hat ?

Hey, what about getting some news of an Indiana Jones 5? I know, i know, the number 4 was disappointing but who knows, may be they will have a great idea - and a better script - for the no 5?

And that's precisely what Georges Lucas is supposed to have. According to Harrison Ford in his latest interview on MTV last week, "Georges have a crazy idea for the Indy 5". Ooops, a "crazy" idea fom Georges Lucas is not necessarily a good news!

Anyway, have a look at this short interview in which the man with the hat tells more about his wishes for the next Indy.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings

There is no new Indiana Jones movie this year, and considering the mediocre quality of the Crystal Skull it's almost a good news! However, on June 9, Lucas Arts released a brand new Indiana Jones video game called "Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings". The game is released for Nintendo Ds and Play station 2 of course, but - and that's where it becomes interesting - also for the now famous Nintendo Wii. Thanks to the Wii technology, the gamer will be able to act like Indiana Jones, and, as one of the game designer said "It's as close as you can get to be a real Indiana Jones".

The 3D animation looks fine, and especially the decors and background as you will see on the videos below. Lot of reminiscences from the Indy movies in the Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings adventure, but that's okay, it should be fun.

As i know you like concept-arts, here are some of them in wallpaper size. More concept-arts available on the game web site HERE

This first video below is the official game trailer.

In this next video you'll see game designers explaining how it works with the Wii.

And this last one shows the first Ten Minutes of "Indiana Jones And The Staff Of Kings" in the Wii version.

And what about a new Indy movie, you ask? Well, if we consider what Shia LaBeouf recently said in an interview - later confirmed by Producer Frank Marshall - they're currently working on a script. Mmmmh...the last time i heard this from a Indy producer was 15 years ago and we had to wait almost as long to see the movie - and not a real good one. So, i'll believe it when i'll see it!

Hat Tip to Blue Sky Disney for the news!

Transformers " E-Ticket " ride will open at Universal Studios in 2011

Universal Studios confirmed that a Transformers attraction will open in 2011, and i think we can expect a big "E" Ticket ride...The attraction is schedule to open first at Universal Studios Sentosa in Singapore which open in 2010. Universal released two renderings of this awaited ride and more details in the official press release that you will find below.

'Transformers' to be Developed as Theme Park Mega-Attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Singapore

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Oct. 20 -- "Transformers," the electrifying blockbuster celebrated for its multi-generational appeal, inventive storyline, spectacular action sequences and special effects, will now be developed as a new theme park mega-attraction in a partnership between Universal Parks & Resorts, Hasbro, Inc. and DreamWorks Pictures.

The attraction will fuse 3D-HD media, mega special effects and stunning robotics with a ride system that will transform perceptions of theme park experiences. The rides are scheduled to make their debuts in early 2011, first at Universal Studios Singapore and then at Universal Studios Hollywood. In "Transformers," Earth's humans are caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between the friendly Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.

Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO, Universal Parks & Resorts, said: "'Transformers' will be a jewel in our collection of world-class rides based on great movies. We're thrilled to be collaborating with Hasbro, DreamWorks, director Michael Bay and the film's executive producer, Steven Spielberg, who has been responsible for so many of our signature rides and attractions." Steven Spielberg serves as creative consultant to Universal Parks & Resorts and has worked closely with the company in the creation of some of the world's most innovative theme park attractions. Those attractions include Jurassic Park-the Ride, a featured attraction at UP&R parks in Orlando, Hollywood and Japan, the E.T. Adventure at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Japan, and the "War of the Worlds" sets at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Larry Kurzweil, President and Chief Operating Officer, Universal Studios Hollywood, said "'Transformers' represents a perfect match for our theme park: an exhilarating blockbuster with a great story, clever humor, non-stop action and flawless special effects. It has all the elements necessary to become one of the world's most exciting theme park rides and a centerpiece attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A."

"We are thrilled to be working with Universal Parks & Resorts and DreamWorks to create this 'Transformers' attraction because we believe it will deliver an ultimate one of a kind immersive 'Transformers' experience for our fans around the world!" said Brian Goldner, President and CEO of Hasbro, Inc.

Tan Hee Teck, Chief Executive Officer of Resorts World at Sentosa, the mega resort that is home to Universal Studios Singapore, said: "It is great that Asia will be the launch pad for the first Transformers attraction. Transformers was introduced in the United States in 1983 but traces its roots to Asia. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron are familiar names to Asian audiences, who grew up with the robot toys and love the movie. When Transformers opens in Universal Studios Singapore in 2010, it will be the first of its kind in the world. We may see a surge of Transformers mania.

Director Michael Bay and Executive Producer Steve Spielberg presented "Transformers" in 2007. "Transformers" broke box office records on its way to gathering worldwide gross revenues of over $706 million -- the highest non-sequel gross of any movie in 2007 -- and three Academy Award nominations. The sequel, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," is scheduled to be released by Paramount Pictures in the U.S. on June 26, 2009.

Last news from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull !

Less than three weeks now before the release of the highly awaited Indiana Jones and the crystal skull. And those of you living in the U.S who will go to see the Iron Man movie ( i saw it last night and it's excellent, by the way ) should have the pleasure to discover the new and probably final trailer.

A new TV trailer was released, it's short but there is some few new shots and you can watch it below.

Indiana Jones.com also released plenty of new photos and some like the one on the top give some infos. This one above shows a market scene and it's a Peruvian market - it's easy to recognize Peru with the typical clothes and hats. Which means of course that part of the action is set in Peru, and may be not in Mexico as we thought before...

Here are the other pictures showing Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf who plays Indy's son.

The movie will have its world première May 18 at legendary Cannes film festival and is released in France on May 21, one day before the U.S!

Indiana Jones tribute part one - The making of Raiders of the lost ark

Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull will be released in three months, and, even if we all would love to watch it right now, i'm afraid we have to wait.

So, in the meantime, i thought we could have a look back at the making of the previous Indiana Jones movies, beginning by the first one, Raiders of the lost ark.

Let's begin with some concept-art by Jim Steranko, wonderful comic book artist, and magician, too. And if Indiana Jones don't look like Harrison Ford on them, it's normal, as these production artwork was probably done before the final casting.
The first one above shows a scene which don't really exist in the final movie.

The one below shows the snake sequence, but if you look well, the temple is not an egyptian temple like in the movie.

This next one shows the famous battle between Indy and the pilot of the flying wing.

And this last rendering is about the truck chase scene.

Let's have a look now to some production shots. Here is Spielberg filming in Hawai's jungle.

This picture show the filming of the opening sequence, with the indians.

Here is Georges Lucas and the crew, always in Hawai.

This next picture shows one of the huge studio set.

Harrison Ford and Spielberg, probably talking about the opening sequence.

I mean, this sequence.

Spielberg and Karen Allen during the "streets of Cairo" filming. Note that this sequence was filmed in Morocco, and not in Cairo.

Here is the sea plane which appears in the movie.

Spielberg and Ford near the cargo ship.

The making of a mask for the final sequence of the opening of the ark of the covenant.

And here is another one, probably for the same sequence.

In the part two, coming soon, we will have a look at the making of Indiana Jones and the temple of doom!

Pictures coming from the Indiana Jones official web site.
